Sci-Fi, Horror
A vampiress with a scorched cheek trudges down a busy Moscow highway, looking for a little boy whom a witch tried to kill, as the forces of Light and the warriors of the Dark do battle… Very few movies have had me so much is rapt awe. Watch this for the sheer brilliance in storytelling, cinematography, and effects that meld in so well, it makes the likes of The Matrix seem a tad puerile. (This one’s Russian by the way) |

Romance
A mouthful of sky, with no sugar or added schmaltz. A guy — now married with a kid — fortuitously meets a girl he’d met nine years ago… and has just a few hours to catch up with her before his flight. One long sunny conversation pregnant with fun, meaning, and more. |

Film-Noir
Brooding tuxedos, thick narratives, smoking guns, lashing rain, red lipstick, fluorescent white blood, and a storyline that unravels and enthralls as intriguigingly as a comic-book: these are some elements you won’t fail to miss in this black-and-white movie (with the occasional color used to brilliant effect). Features some typical Quentin Tarantino-style psychedelic action. Film noir at its finest. |

Drama, Crime
Give a bunch of rowdy loafers all the freedom they can get, and you get this story. Give Stanley Kubrick all the artistic freedom he can have and you get A Clockwork Orange. This is a tale of a bunch of boys, told in Nedstat — a delectable concoction of English, Russian and other dialects. Alex and his droogs romp around the town, commit some heinous crimes, Alex lands up in prison, and gets subjected to the rather unusual corrective Ludovico treatment. This is a story of all that and the life thereafter, rendered in true Kubrick-style. A highly controversial movie, Kubrick received death threats after it was released. If you’re offended by psychedelia, this one’s not for you. |

Drama
A story about how you can be so happy with so little… about a little poor boy who goes to buy groceries and accidentally ends up losing his sister’s only pair of good shoes, and he can’t tell his parents because he knows they can’t afford another pair. Just so you know, there isn’t an iota of melancholy here. (This is a Persian movie) |

When Gods play ball. When a movie stars the likes of Goldberg, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kevin Nash, and the monstrosity called Dalip Singh, I know I’m in for some serious kick@$$ fun. |
