About Me
When I’m not working (I work as a C++ programmer) or toiling away in my habitual torpitude or talking to other friends, you can probably find me reading Greek mythology, other literature, or playing my guitar (I’ve been playing it since third grade, and still have so much to learn!), or listening to my latest mix on my iPod, or monkeying around with my Suse Linux mean machine, or dodging rockets and melting my foes with plasma in a multiplayer Unreal Tournament fragfest (Deathmatch anyone?)

I’d love to hear from you. Almost everything on this site is commentable :) You can give me a holler at the Graffiti section, post a private message via the Contact form, or comment on individual blog posts and other sections.

About This Site
This site has been developed using GNU Emacs (and Adobe Photoshop 6.0 for the graphics) on my trusty old 128MB-RAM machine  (What would I do without you!)

It is also fueled by pizza, Cradle of Filth music wails and Free software, and is served fresh and hot to you by an Apache web server sitting happily on a Debian mean-machine basking in the mellow Californian clime.

A list of features can be found at the Changelog

Accessibility Statement

Semantic Markup

For increased semantic modularity, searchability and discovery, the following microformats have been used:

  • XFN

To indicate relationships between friends, people and websites.

    See my connections
    (Somebody link to me!)

  • hCard

hCard is a simple, open, distributed contact information format for people, companies, and organizations.

  • hReview

hReview is an open standard for distributed reviews, to enable and encourage the sharing, distribution, syndication, and aggregation, of reviews.

  • rel-home

All pages have rel=home links to aid navigation in text-only browsers.

Standards Compliance

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

All pages on this site define the following (”standard”) access keys:

Access key 1:   Home page
Access key 9:   Feedback
Access key 4:   Search (To be implemented)
Access key 0:   Accessibility Statement (To be implemented)

Visual design

  • This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
  • If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets (or Javascript) at all, the content of each page is still readable.
  • This site degrades gracefully in a mobile or PDA for optimal viewing. In such devices, an additional link is made available which allows a user to see a text-only version of the site.
  • mobile.debajit.com (also m.debajit.com) is a text-based simplified version of this site, for fast and optimized display on any user agent. (To be up soon)

Links

  • Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article)
  • Links are written to make sense out of context.

Images

  • All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
  • Complex images include LONGDESC attributes or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.
